The Surry Seafood Co. at Gray's Creek Marina plans to open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. Thursday.
Surry County purchased and renovated the marina to provide public access to the river, and then leased the property to experienced operators in April, according to a county news release.
The restaurant will be open seven days a week serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Menu items include seafood, steaks, burgers and salads.
All seats have a view of Gray's Creek, and staff can accommodate large parties and events.
Renovations also included a new boat launch facility, a launch for kayaks and canoes, a marina store and bed and breakfast, according to the news release.
The Captain’s Quarters bed and breakfast includes four efficiency units with one bedroom, one bathroom, kitchenette, living area and private balcony overlooking Gray’s Creek. In-room meal delivery will be available.
The next phase of the renovation will include the construction of floating docks, boat slips and a fishing pier. When the full development is complete it will include nature trails, picnic facilities, wetlands overlook and additional parking.
